The current state of play

By 2026 the post-Amino community space has settled. Most active leaders run a two-app stack: Aminoka for the structural layer (communities, profiles, leveling, leader hierarchy, walls, polls, roleplay) plus Discord for the chat layer. Solo-app users overwhelmingly pick Aminoka because it covers more of what Amino did.

What's new in 2026

Aminoka's roleplay matchmaker. Post your OC + premise, get matched with a partner, the app spins up a private chat with both OCs pre-equipped. Amino itself never had this — it's a genuine net-new feature for the RP scene.

OC libraries with kudos. Aminoka treats characters as searchable, kudos-able first-class objects across the app. The closest 2025 equivalent was a private character sheet in a Discord channel.

Modern moderation. OpenAI moderation runs on every post and message. NSFW gating is opt-in via viewer pref. Both Discord and Aminoka have matured here — the bad-old-days of Amino's auto-ban moderation are over.
